The transportation revolution was dramatic improvement in the transportation methods in America. This was the period in which steam power, railroads, canals, roads, and bridges emerged as new forms of transportation. Because of this, Americans were allowed to travel and export foods to new markets were not available before. Trade and new settlements were on a rise due to the masive decrease of shipping costs. Shipping costs were lowering immensly, up to 90%, because it was becoming easier to send things from one place to another.
