money from other places in the world that they were prohibiting anyone who had worked in a factory to leave England. Meanwhile, America was trying to start up factories but didn't really know how to, considereing they had no outside influence. Samuel Slater, an apprentice at an English cotton factory, disguised himself and snuck out of England because America was offering a reward to anyone who could build a cotton-spinning machine. Slater was able to build it from memory and from then factories started, which led to the industrial revolution to start up in America.
There were many consequences brought by the sudden change in economic styles, both good and bad. A bad outcome from the industrial revolution was that factorie owners were needing laborers that worked for a small payment. Child labor became a huge problem when children as young as 6 years of age were working 14 hour shifts for low wages. Many children died or became ill because of the toxic fumes, while others were injured and died also from working with dangerous machinery. Women were also being called for hard labor that lasted for many hours for very small increments of money.
Many new inventions were brought to the American civilization through the industrial revolution such as the sewing macine, the reaper, and the steel plow. The cotton gin was also invented by Eli Whitney.
