With all the strikes going on in the country, fear began to build into the hearts of Americans that Communists were planning an American revolution. American fears worsened when The Soviet establishment of the Communist International was formed in 1919. This basically was an organization for coordinating Communist parties in other countries. Obviously when the US heard this panic and fear went up. Communists were called "reds" thus stating why this national fear was called the Red Scare. In April 30 bombs were confiscated by the postal service that were addressed to high society Americans. Soon things began to go down hill quickly. There was a protest of Eugene Debs being jailed and the protest quickly turned into a riot. This riot later injured 40 people and killed 2. The worst event though happened in June. Later citizens thought that these situations were "reds" hoping to ruin the American way of life.
