On November 22, 1963, Kennedy and his wife traveled to Texas, where JFK was shot shot twice while riding in the presidential motorcade. Lee Harvey Oswald, was accused of killing Kennedy, and was shot to death while in police custody. This led people to speculate that the second gunman, Jack Ruby, killed Oswald to protect others involved in the crime. In '64 a national commission, headed by Chief Justice Warren, concluded that Oswald was the lone assassin. The report of the Warren Commission left a lot of questions unanswered. Theories about a conspiracy began to develop, but none have been widely accepted as the truth.
