Atomic bomb

The United States decided to end the war with japan by using napalm and atomic bombs, destroying the city of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
On August 6 and 9, 1945, the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed by the first atomic bombs used in warfare. In Hiroshima the bomb killed men, women, and children. Both military personnel and civilians. Although the city produced military items and housed soldiers, it was not selected as a "purely military target" as President Truman had promised. There were six civilians in Hiroshima to every soldier. In Nagasaki 70,000 people lost their lives by the end of 1945. A total of 140,00 died within the next five years due to the bombing.
